Practice Manual

Downloadable electronic version

This page provides you with some more information about the electronic version of the Practice Manual for Tribunals and what is involved in downloading it.

Does the manual work on all kinds of computers?

The electronic version of the manual is compatible with all PCs and laptops installed with MS Windows including 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7.

The manual can be downloaded for use on an Apple Mac but only if your Mac has been enabled to run Windows using tools such as Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMware Fusion.  The manual is not compatible with Macs that only use the Apple operating system.

Will my firewall or virus-checker stop me from downloading the manual?

The electronic version of the manual is a program or executable file.  Many organisations have set their IT systems to prevent users from downloading these kinds of files without specific authorisation from the IT section.  Your home PC or laptop may also be set so that you have to give specific permission to download the program.

The COAT Practice Manual for Tribunals is a VeriSign code signed program and is being delivered from a secure server operated by Eurofield Information Solutions (EIS).

If you are prevented from downloading the manual on a work computer, you should contact your IT section to allow you to download the program.  You may need to disable your firewall or virus checker if your home PC or laptop is unable to handle secure code signed programs.

Which format should I choose?

The electronic version of the Practice Manual for Tribunal is available in two different formats.

  • Version for use on a single PC or laptop

You should download this version if you are an individual and you want to have a copy of the manual on your own PC or laptop.  You will be able to add personal notes to the manual which you can also send on to other users.

  • Version for use on a network

This version is designed for organisations who want to place the manual on a network that multiple users can access.  The organisation will be able to add notes to the manual that all users can see.

If your organisation wants to use the network version, you will be asked to nominate the number of users that will be able to access the manual at the same time.  There is a maximum limit of 99 concurrent users.

Who should I contact if I have any problems or comments in relation to the manual?

If you experience any difficulties downloading the manual, we suggest that you speak to the IT staff in your own organisation in the first instance.

If they are unable to assist you, you can send an email to: info@coat.gov.au. We will endeavour to get back to you within 48 hours of receiving your email.

Please note that COAT will not be able to assist you with any technical issues that relate to how your own computer is set up.

If you have any comments about the manual - either in relation to the content or the operation of the electronic version - we would be happy to hear from you.  Any feedback should be sent to info@coat.gov.au
